SCOTT IS BACK!!

Carron,

Our internet was all messed up today and then suddenly came back. I was able to access Fox News, The Des Moines Register, etc. very quickly and thought what the heck, I'll try the blog. I was amazed, but I got in. I like the new look of the site.

I did recognize your home and Diane Norton's as well. Great stuff.

Keep up the good work and with any luck, they won't put the old restrictions back on and I will be able to view the class of 81 blog site.

DOWN TO THE FINAL TEN...
I got a call from Linda tonight while at the bar playing pool. She made it to the final TEN!! So, now I get to go to the awards banquet on Sunday, May 6, when they announce the winner.
As of around 9:00 tonight, the website was not updated, but check back soon.
I was so certain she would make it, that I already put in for a day of vacation on Monday, May 7th!!!
A "good luck" e-mail from her former students would mean the world to her. Here is her e-mail address:
Send her your best wishes!

THE RACE IS ON...
Carron,

I believe that they are picking the final ten finalists this weekend for Minnesota Teacher of the Year. So I hope to know on Monday or Tuesday. I leave for France on Thursday so I hope to know before that.

I'll let you know as soon as I know.

CHANGE OF PACE
Rather than a cow and a tree, we have a tree and a cow.

DeDe IS ALIVE!

Hi, Carron!

You can always call me DeDe!!! Actually that's what I expect from my Anamosa friends!

Yes, I did send the info onto Libby. I didn't realize her e-mail address wasn't already on your distro list until I ran into her at work the other day. It's funny that Libby, Mike Beckmann, Tim Finn & his sister Marcia, Jean Reiter's sister Jane, and I all work for VerizonBusiness & are in the same building. Christy Beckmann used to work for the company too (back when we were MCI though).

Work & home are both incredibly busy....we're actually busier now than we have ever been. I was sorry the party at Scott's didn't work over the week-end, but it was my son's b-day on Sunday (he turned 7!) & we had a little family get together to get ready for & I knew we would not be able to make it out on Saturday night. Last week-end was the first week-end my husband and my older son have even been home this month as they have been traveling like crazy for soccer. They are going to St. Louis this weekend. My high school daughter is busy now with track & my 7 year old son is keeping me running with his soccer schedule too. As if things aren't crazy enough, we're planning to start our 4 year old daughter in soccer this spring!

I would love to get some pictures out on the blogsite.....if I ever had a minute to figure out how to do it, I would! Since I have not posted anything out there I feel like people must think I'm ashamed of my family!!! I hope I will get something out there soon.

Hopefully all is well for you & your family. Thanks for all you have done to keep us all connected!!! It's been great! I hope I can join in on one of the mini-reunions soon!

Take Care! Keep your toes warm today!

DeDe

SCOTT W. CHECKS IN

Carron,

Thanks for the photo. I do miss home, even my old Anamosa home. The folks added on after I moved out. I think Sherri was gone by then also. I don't miss mowing that yard with its hills. I think my brother comes over and does it now. I know Dad still has at it but he is not as young as he used to be, but then again, who is?

Curt is right about Dad. He would only drive a Ford or an American made car. He did give in and drive a Pontiac for a while. He now owns all foreign made cars. Once he left Rockwell and the union, he eventually moved away from Ford. He still talks about the Ford 500 and the Taurus. He also loves NASCAR. I never got into that.

Thanks again for the photo.

Say hi to Curt and Tony for me.

JOEL ANDREESEN!!
Send photos of your lovely wife and kid! (And yourself, of course.)
We know you're a big-ass attorney and all, so you can afford a digital camera. Hell, even I can afford a digital camera and I ain't no big-ass attorney.
Now, figuring out how to use the camera is another story. But, I managed and I ain't no big-ass attorney, so, dammit, go buy a camera and send photos, you big-ass attorney!
Hell, Hatcher is even dreaming about you. That is curious in itself, but I'll leave it alone....
Seriously, Joel, how is your "hunky" self doing? Fill us in. And, then send photos!
:-)

I WARNED YA...

Dudes, I warned you. It's cows and trees every damn day until you all start sending me pictures. I swear.

E-MAIL ADDRESS FOR LIBBY PATNODE (AMMETER)
I received a very nice surprise this morning! An e-mail from Libby Patnode. Apparently, DeDe had shared the blogsite address with her and Libby wanted her name added to the list to share with others. So, here is Libby's e-mail address:
Great to hear from you, Libby. Welcome to the madness!

DO YOU RECOGNIZE THESE HOUSES?
While on a sightseeing/reminiscing tour of Anamosa today, we took these photos. Do you know which classmates lived in these houses?
(If you lived there, don't spill the beans!)

#1
#2 (Hint: This is NOT Mary Jane's house, but the guy in the red truck was sure curious why we were taking a picture of his house...) :-/

I HAVE A DREAM

I had a dream last night and Joel Andreesen was in it. Why Joel? No idea. I haven’t seen him in 20 years. We were cleaning/hiding evidence of a dead body in someone’s house.

Joel ---- What the Hell does this mean?

So, other than that, just loving S. FL in March.
Enjoy your big blast tomorrow night.

TOM H.
Hope da Norwegians appreciate dis Irish humor.......ya for shure........(courtesy of Tom Hatcher)

An Irishman walks into the pub and orders three pints of Guinness. He alternately sips one, then the other, then the third until they're gone and then orders three more. This routine goes on for months. Finally, the bartender asks why the Irishman orders three pints all at once.

'Well' he says, 'the first pint is fer me brudder in America and the second is fer me brudder in England, and the tird is fer me. We vowed that wherever we were, we'd do this every Saturday, so even though we're apart, we're all having a pint together right now, just like old times.'

The bartender, touched by the story, nods in agreement and explains to the lads at the bar who have witnessed the curious behavior.

Several weeks later, the Irishman enters the pub and orders just two pints. The bar falls silent. As the bartender walks slowly up to the table with a pint in each hand, he says 'Me and the lads want you to know we're terribly sorry about the loss of your brother.'

The Irishman looks perplexed for a moment, then says, 'Oh heavens no, me brudders are both fine! I've just quit drinkin'!'

THIS IS IT...
If no one else is going to send pictures to post, this is all you're going to get. Cows and trees.
TOO MUCH FUN!

Diane and I went out for some "girl time" last night and the guys joined us later. If I remember correctly, we had fun, didn't we, Di?

BECAUSE I CAN
As soon as I read Tony's comment saying he was glad I did NOT post this picture, I mysteriously found myself wanting to do it.
He should really know better than to tell me NOT to do anything!
It's fun being evil.

YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY...

You know what they say will happen if you peel
off a beer label without tearing it!?! On that note, I'm outta here!! :-) Whoo-hoo!!

WE HAVE NO LIFE

OK, Tony and I have no life, so we go around taking photos of sunsets, jukeboxes, and restaurant signs. Here we were in the restaurant writing on the leftover box and putting ears on beer bottles. Everyone in the restaurant thought we were complete idiots, but, hey, we had fun!

LET'S ASK DIANE NORTON....

Let's ask Diane if she even vaguely remembers going to Leonardo's after Homecoming our sophomore year?!? I highly doubt she does since she never entered the restaurant.

I remember her rolling down a ditch along Highway 30, a cop stopping to ask what was wrong, her date telling the cop she "had the flu" and her sleeping in the back seat of the car while the rest of us enjoyed a tasty pizza!
And, let's not even mention the bright red Sloe Gin stain on the front of her dress. She told her mom it was Kool-Aid. Sad part is, her mom believed her. I am not sure how she explained the mud and grass stains from her tumble down the ditch.
REMEMBER THESE?

Remember these old jukeboxes? Tony and I were out eating supper and they had them in the booths. Had to take the photo in black and white to make the picture look old. Like us.
:-/
AWESOME SUNSET
Talk about a beautiful Iowa sunset. Check out the silo and the farmhouse in the silhouette. This was taken tonight, outside of Ely, on our way into Cedar Rapids. It was absolutely gorgeous! Typical, awesome Iowa.

REQUEST FROM SCOTT AND DIANE
Scott and Diane would like you to send them an e-mail if you are planning on attending the St. Patrick's Day Party this Saturday night. They want an estimate of how many to expect.
Thanks!

PRETTY IOWA PICTURES

Does it mean you're getting old when your entertainment for the evening is getting an ice cream cone and taking a drive through the park? It was 65 degrees here today and the sunset was beautiful!
MESSAGE FROM JOHN STARR

Carron,

Thanks for thinking about others all of the time. This is a very nice gesture and I hope that several people will come out to welcome him back home.

I believe that all of our fighting men and women deserve a hero's welcome when they return home.

Have a great day!

A PICTURE TO ENJOY
Carron,
Thank you for doing such a great job on the blog site. I know sometimes you may not feel appreciated for all the work you do. I want you to know I appreciate all of your hard work. Most everyone who uses the site does, too, however, they may not tell you.
Diane had family over today to celebrate her daughter's 20th birthday. Everyone was staring out the window at something. I took a picture of what they were looking at.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARTY INFO FROM SCOTT AND DIANE:

New carpet syndrome, yeah – sort of. Actually more like new house syndrome.

This will be simple. No Main Course. Bring your own drinks and also bring heavy hors de oeuvres to share with everyone. .

("Heavy Hors de oeuvres" are the kind that you serve at a cocktail party when you don't plan to serve a meal.)

Email me (Scott P.) at fairlane1967@mchsi.com and I will give you detailed directions to the house.

The party starts at 5:30 PM on Saturday, March 17, 2007.

To keep this straight I will work with Carron and Tony to post information when needed.
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY!
Carron,
We are moving to Iowa, so I can try to make that (Scott W.'s party)...for once. I am going to work at the Veteran's Administration in Des Moines, starting very soon.
Moving up from FL will be a family adventure.

See you later on.

PARTY AT SCOTT PETERSEN'S
(Do they allow parties on San Quentin's death row? Oh, sorry, wrong guy.)
OK, Tony just got off the phone with Scott Petersen. He said we are all welcome to invade his house next Saturday night (St. Patrick's Day) for a little informal class party!
I am leaving it up to Scott to add a comment giving everyone directions, times, and what to bring. We want to make sure we all fit into his Rule of 21 kitchen and that we make it most ambianceish by providing the right food and beverage.
Or, if all else fails, call me (319-210-2400) and I will get ahold of the goofy bastard and get all the details.
Sounds we can have a fun time chez Mr. O'Petersen! Think of the donation to the local economy we could make that night!!! :-)

PICTURES FROM SHARON COVINGTON

Hey, the party for Scott in August sounds like a great idea! I jumped on the blog today to see what is going on with everyone.
We just got back from Padre Island on a little family vacation. The weather was great and we stayed in condos right on the beach! TOO MUCH FUN! We were with Dann's family, and we had a great time..the kids were good...Rachel LOVED the ocean. It was just nice to be oceanside for a week and walk on the warm sandy beach. I have attached a couple of pictures,,,really I did!!! If you don't get those, then I do give up!!! :0)

CHANGE IN BLOG...

Hello, y'all!

As you can see, I have changed the layout of the blog again. I get bored easily when I have to look at the same thing all the time. Let me know if you like it/don't like it/don't give a crap. :-)

Also, was thinking about opening the blogsite up to anyone who wants to post something. Maybe more people would get involved if they didn't have to go through me first. Although, I will post anything you want me to if you don't want to do it yourself. Allowing anyone to post also gets me off the hook because I am sometimes unsure whether or not you want me to post what you send me. I don't like making judgement calls because I don't always use the best judgement. Of course, the number of Coronas oftentimes has an effect on said judgement.

Keep in mind, however, that if I open this up to anyone, and you don't like what they post, I don't want any hate mail or anyone going psycho-bitch on me. That's what the comment section is for.

Let me know if you want your name added to the list of people who can make postings. It only takes a second to add you.

Hope you're all having a great weekend!

WELCOME HOME PARTY FOR SCOTT WEBER
Hey, everyone!
I made a reservation at Tyler and Downing Eatery in Anamosa for Saturday, August 25th. We are having ourselves a "welcome home" party for Scott Weber.
Not sure of the time or details yet, but mark it on your calendars!!!
It is going to be a "buy your own meals/drinks" kind of ordeal. They will need a ballpark figure for attendance, but we can get those numbers later.
I hope we can have a darn near mini-reunion. It would be most fun!!!

GET TOGETHER SOON?
I spoke with both Jim Ahrendsen a while back and with Mike Deutmeyer today. They are both alive and well. Was great to hear from both of them!!
I would love it if we could all get together in the next month or so... I know Mike is flying away to wherever the nice weather takes him, but it would be so nice if we could hook up one more time.
Keep the 2nd or 3rd weekend of August open.....We are having a "Welcome Home Party" for Scott Weber. I know Brett will be home and we need to make time for it. It is MOST important.
Let me know what you are all thinking. Privately or on the blog...
