LIFE AT DEB'S HOUSE

This is what's happening at my house on this fine, dreary, drizzly morning....
No wonder "our kids" like Lance more than me..........

(Deb, this picture is priceless. You should enter it in a photo contest.)

I GOT TO MEET THE KIDS

Dan's beautiful daughter, Amy, is home from college in California and his son, Rob, is home from South Korea for a month's leave from the Air Force. We took them out for supper and embarrassed the crap out of them by dancing all night.

Speaking of the Air Force, Dean and I signed away Wesley's life last Tuesday night. He is officially signed up for the Air Force. He's thinking he wants to be an air traffic controller.

FIASCO IS GETTING BETTER

Deb wrote to tell me that her poochie, Fiasco, is getting better.

Check out the video to see him running around!!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

Thanks to all who have sacrificed for us.

2008 IOWA SCHOOL NURSE OF THE YEAR

Nancy (Seeger) Alderdyce (Class of 1980) always wanted to be a nurse when she grew up, and now the rural Anamosa woman has been named the 2008 Iowa School Nurse of the Year.
Click here to read the whole article in the Anamosa Journal-Eureka.

GRADUATION

Michelle Cass' daughter, Samantha Oberheu, made the front page of the Milestones section of the Sunday Gazette today! She graduated from Kennedy High School!!
She's beautiful just like her momma!

WONDERFUL POEMS

WOMAN'S LOVE POEM

Before I lay me down to sleep, I pray for a man, who's not a creep,
One who's handsome, smart and strong, One who loves to listen long,
One who thinks before he speaks, One who'll call, not wait for weeks.
I pray he's gainfully employed, When I spend his cash, won't be annoyed.
Pulls out my chair and opens my door, Massages my back and begs to do more.
Oh! Send me a man who'll make love to my mind, Knows what to answer to 'how big is my behind?'
I pray that this man will love me to no end, And always be my very best friend.

MAN'S LOVE POEM

I pray for a deaf-mute nymphomaniac with huge boobs who owns a bar on a golf course, and loves to send me fishing and hunting. This doesn't rhyme and I don't give a shit.

BRENDA'S HANDSOME SON, NICK

Here are a couple pictures of Brenda's son, Nick, at the two proms he attended.
Quite the handsome boy, Brenda!!

MIKE WILL BE HOME!

Hi, Diane and Carron,

The reason that I'm really writing is to let you know that my R&R dates are pretty locked in.
Rhonda & I will fly into Milwaukee on 12 June and depart on the evening of 16 June (Liz has her Freshman Orientation the morning of 16 June at Marquette).
Liz's H.S. graduation is on the 14th and most of the relatives are only coming in for the day or until the morning of the 15th. Not sure what you have going on the afternoon of 15 June; however, it would be great to see either of you, have you meet Rhonda, and catch up!
Take care, and hope to hear from you soon.
BTW, I'm attaching Liz's Senior Pictures!
Ciao,
Mike

SURPRISE!!!

What Darcie thought was going to be a cozy dinner with just the two of us turned into a surprise party with about 20 friends!! I think she had a great birthday (and probably an even better night at home with all her "gifts"!!)

DARCIE'S RIDE

The rain stayed away for Darcie's ride yesterday. There was a good turn-out and, hopefully, lots of money was raised. Darc was going to crunch the numbers and let me know the total outcome!
(Update: Darc tallied the figures and the total raised was $1,964.00. Not bad for five hours of fun!!)

SATURDAY MORNING SUNRISE

Talk about a beautiful sunrise coming up this morning in Springville. These pictures were taken from Dan's patio overlooking the woods behind his neighbor's house.

I'm off to work and then to meet up with Darcie for a cold beverage to support her Chrome Divas ride this afternoon. (Scroll down for details and then come join us!!) I'll post pictures of that later!

THE GIRL CHILD PLAYING TENNIS

Here's Ellyn playing in her last tennis meet this past Thursday. She finished the season strong by winning her last two meets. Ellyn is blessed with many wonderful, awesome qualities and talents, but athletics isn't one of them. She fully admits she "sucks", but she gives it her all anyway.

E-MAIL FROM DI

Coo~

I swear I am turning into my mother scouring over the obits. ANYWAY - I noticed that Penny Newhard's mother passed away. I don't know if she is involved in blogging on the reunion site, but I thought you might want to put it out there since she is one of our classmates.

Hope all is well with you! I am stressing at work and we are getting a new roof and windows at home, so life is chaotic!! Not to mention that Ryan has baseball games almost every night, etc.!! Calgon, take me away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Diane

(You can read the obituary by following this link.)

LUNCH WITH BRENDA

Brenda and I met for lunch today at Applebee's. The meal took approximately half an hour. It took another three hours to stop laughing and talking. I just love that woman!!!

SMALL TOWNS

Those who grew up in small towns will laugh when they read this.

1) You can name everyone you graduated with.

2) You know what 4-H means.

3) You went to parties at a pasture, barn, gravel pit, or in the middle of a dirt road. On Monday, you could always tell who was at the party because of the scratches on their legs from running through the woods when the party was busted. (See #6.)

4) You used to 'drag' Main Street.

5) You whispered the 'F' word and your parents knew within the hour.

6) You scheduled parties around the schedules of different police officers, because you knew which ones would bust you and which ones wouldn't.

7) You could never buy cigarettes because all the store clerks knew how old you were (and if you were old enough, they'd tell your parents anyhow.) Besides, where would you get the money?

8) When you did find somebody old enough and brave enough to buy cigarettes, you still had to go out into the country and drive on back roads to smoke them.

9) You knew which section of the ditch you would find the beer your buyer dropped off.

10) It was cool to date somebody from the neighboring town.

11) The whole school went to the same party after graduation.

12) You didn't give directions by street names but rather by references. Turn by Nelson's house, go 2 blocks to Anderson 's, and it's four houses left of the track field.

13) The golf course had only 9 holes.

14) You couldn't help but date a friend's ex-boyfriend/girlfriend.

15) Your car stayed filthy because of the dirt roads, and you will never own a dark vehicle for this reason.

16) The town next to you was considered 'trashy' or 'snooty,' but was actually just like your town.

17) You referred to anyone with a house newer then 1955 as the 'rich' people.

18) The people in the 'big city' dressed funny, and then you picked up the trend 2 years later.

19) Anyone you wanted could be found at the local gas station or the dairybar.

20) You saw at least one friend a week driving a tractor through town or one of your friends driving a grain truck to school occasionally.

21) The gym teacher suggested you haul hay for the summer to get stronger.

22) Directions were given using THE stop light as a reference.

23) When you decided to walk somewhere for exercise, 5 people would pull over and ask if you wanted a ride.

24) Your teachers called you by your older siblings' names.

25) Your teachers remembered when they taught your parents.

26) You could charge at any local store or write checks without any ID.

27) There was no McDonalds.

28) The closest mall was over an hour away.

29) It was normal to see an old man riding through town on a riding lawn mower.

30) You've pee'd in a cornfield.

31) Most people went by a nickname.

32) You laughed your butt off reading this because you know it is true.
