THE GREAT JONES COUNTY FAIR

Dan and I went to the fair in Monticello on Friday night to hear the band, Boston, play. They were amazing! The median age of the crowd there was about 50, but there were a few younguns who were singing along!!

I bumped into Jeff and Chris (Catlett) Tjaden and Michelle Phillips and her hubby, Mark. I also saw Tony Miell and got to meet his girlfriend, Lori. Doug Wortman stopped to say "hi" and Mark Hamilton stopped me for a hug. It was fun to see them all!!!

We got caught in a torrential downpour Saturday night, so we left the fair and went to Tucker's Bar in Anamosa for a beer. Brian Ketelsen was there, but I doubt he will remember seeing me! :-/

  1. Hi! I didn't get to see Boston, but I did see Dierks Bentley on Saturday night AFTER the storm passed through!!
    He was very entertaining!!
He said that he wanted to have a beer with those who stayed to hear him sing. As he was talking he walked toward the speakers, reached down, and opened a door.
Behind that door was a mini fridge packed with bottles of beer!!!
He then started handing some of the bottles of beer out to people on the track. The crowd was "WOWed" roaring, clapping....
He held up his cup and proposed a toast to everyone still out there in the rain "hanging in there" to hear him play.
    It was fun.

  4. Didn't go had a family reunion, but
my 16 year old Max worked the stage crew this year. To hear him tell all the upclose and personal stories made me wish I was 16 again. What a great time they had. All the bands and their staff were very gracious. Another great year at the fair!!!!!!!!!
