Happy belated birthday, Mark!!

MIKE AND HIS FAMILY

Below is a pic of Mike H., his wife and family, along with Doug Wortman and his boys (and some others I don't know) at the condo in Colorado.
Mike, is this where you called me from the night (early morning) you don't remember when Doug had you indulging in alcoholic beverages?
Great photo!!!!!

SAVANNA, OKLAHOMA

This is what you see when you travel through Savanna, Oklahoma. I think I can honestly say I haven't laughed this hard since I don't know when.
The FRUIT STANb had no fruit and Bob's Good Junk was not good. You see the "pay barrel"? It was a small keg with a stick in the hole in the top. You simply lifted the stick out of the hole and stuck your money in there. There was no one in the shop and no one to take your money. Absolutely hilarious.
(I didn't get a picture of the "Country Bumpkin Towing Service" because we were driving too fast and didn't have time to go back...)
OK, I MAY have laughed this hard at Tammy Vernon's slumber party back in 5th or 6th grade when SHE laughed so hard she snorted milk out of her nose.
(Pics taken 01/12/2009, not 01/02/2006. Memo to self: reset date on camera.)

DINNER WITH BRETT AND JEN

We met Brett and Jen for some fabulous bar-b-que on Sunday night in Dallas. It was great to see them again! Jen is as sweet and Brett is as cantankerous as ever! :-)
(The batteries in my camera died and I had to change them. I could not get the lady taking the pic to understand what I was doing, so I didn't take time to reset the date. It really was 01/11/2009, not 01/01/2006.)

Thursday, January 8, 2009

Well, we reached a verdict in an hour today. All pretty cut and dried. The good guy won!!! :-)

Dan and I are leaving for Texas tomorrow morning at the butt-crack of dawn. We are making a visit to Brett and his lovely wife, Jen. I'll post pics when we return next Wednesday!!!!!!!! Talked to a friend down there today and it was 81 degrees. I can't wait to get there!! You just watch... knowing my luck, a cold front will come through and it will drop 30 degrees. Oh well, 50 is better than 15!!

More next week! Enjoy your weekend!

JURY DUTY

Ok, so here's the diehl/deal..... hahaha.......anyway.....

About a month ago, I get a notice in the mail that I have been selected for jury duty. If anyone has ever received one of these before, you know the drill..... the weekend before you are supposed to report, you have to call the courthouse and see if your number was chosen. This was the second time I have been selected. Last time, I didn't have to report. Out of about a thousand numbers, they choose a hundred. Well, this time, my number was chosen. I show up at the court house on Monday morning (yesterday) at 8:00 a.m. I watch a cheesey movie about how wonderful jury duty can be....blah, blah, blah.

After about an hour and a half of waiting, we are all called into a room with a judge, the defendants, and the plaintiffs and their attorneys. The attorneys go through the whole interview process with us jurors with questions about the particular case they have. It is boring as hell. Anywhoo............... we are sent back out in the hallway while the attorneys decide who they want. All of us are brought back into the courtroom when the judge announces the jurors who were chosen by the attorneys.

Well, hell, they call my name: Ka-ron Bun-Gum Ric-kels (they don't have my new name yet and they mutilate the old one.). Lo and behold, I am a juror. I am thinking the judge is going to say that they will call us when a case comes up............OHHHH, NOOOOO........ the trial starts after lunch, at 1:30 (it is now 11:45). Be back then. Alrighty then. I am officially JUROR # 8!!! I feel so special!

That's all I can say right now.......... it has been two days so far and is expected to go until Friday. After we, the jury, reach a verdict, I can tell you all about it, but for now, I cannot say a word. Just suffice it to say that it is waayyyyy interesting and if you ever have a chance to be on a jury....... don't try to excuse yourself. It is a very important civic duty and very fun.

Anyone else ever been on a jury? If so, tell me about your experience..... I am having a ball and learning a lot.

JOEL, TODD, CURT, and all you other legal geeks... "admonish me!" that's a legal term I learned. hee hee hee!!! ...... this is fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOOD VIDEO TO WATCH - ESPECIALLY FOR WOMEN

As a registered nurse, Deb highly recommends that all women watch this video. It could save someone's life. I had never heard of IBC before watching this. Very interesting. Thanks for sending, Deb!
