SAVANNA, OKLAHOMA

This is what you see when you travel through Savanna, Oklahoma. I think I can honestly say I haven't laughed this hard since I don't know when.
The FRUIT STANb had no fruit and Bob's Good Junk was not good. You see the "pay barrel"? It was a small keg with a stick in the hole in the top. You simply lifted the stick out of the hole and stuck your money in there. There was no one in the shop and no one to take your money. Absolutely hilarious.
(I didn't get a picture of the "Country Bumpkin Towing Service" because we were driving too fast and didn't have time to go back...)
OK, I MAY have laughed this hard at Tammy Vernon's slumber party back in 5th or 6th grade when SHE laughed so hard she snorted milk out of her nose.

  2. about the fruit and vegetable stand: first, it is being rebuilt for the season. second: the fruit/veggie stands are to sell local fresh produce. january, being winter in okla, means there are no crops to harvest. most vegetables are not planted until the ground is warm. and not a lot of fruit to be picked here in winter. you might consider revising your take on that because as backward as you found the okie hicks to be--those stupid hicks would laugh you out of town for thinking a fruit stand would be open in january.
as for bob's: you are right, it is what it is. i guess bob is a trusting guy. tho he doesn't seem simple minded. kind of refreshing, someone assuming people would pay for what they take. kind of quaint.
i don't know, perhaps all the smart okies moved to ca during the dustbowl. ya think?
