THANK YOU FROM KARLA

Carron:

Thanks so much for coming to the Wake. It means so much to know people care. I didn’t realize you were in Springville, that is very close to me in Waubeek. Don’t know when we could get together, but I’ll keep it in mind. You are right; lots of things to deal with now.

I haven’t read the blog site for a while, but I understand you let people know about my Mom’s passing. Thank you.

Please extend my gratitude to all my classmates. I will get to the site to view the messages; I just haven’t done that yet.

Brett Atwood sent me a personal note, and it just touched my heart to know people care. My Mom will be missed by not only her children but a host of people. It’s a great tribute to the life she lead.

Thanks again for your kind expression of sympathy

MESSAGE FROM KARLA BONIFAZI

Dear Friends:

I’ve had some very sad news last night. My Mom a.k.a. “Grandma Pockets” was in a terrible car accident and was killed, Thursday night June 19th, 2008.

She evidently pulled out in front of a semi turning onto Hwy 151 just outside of Anamosa. In traditional “Grandma Pockets” fashion, she was dressed in her clown outfit and on her way to a gig.

Although the accident was awful, her body was spared and we were able to view it. She just looked like she was sleeping. My brothers and sister’s and I all know she lived a wonderful life and touched many people; that is why I am sharing this with you. She will be greatly missed by many, but we will always have those treasured memories that made my MOM who she was.

Thank you all for being a part of my life.

Karla and Randy

VERY, VERY SAD NEWS

I have some very sad news to share. Karla Bonifazi's mother, Regina, was killed in a car accident yesterday, Thursday, June 19th. This Gazette article is not very complete since they didn't have a name yet, but is has been confirmed that it was Karla's mom.

You can send Karla and her family your condolences at simmen@iowatelecom.net. You can also leave a message on Goettsch's website.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bonifazi family at this time.

KARLA B. HAS SPOKEN

Hey, Carron:

Yes, it's been quite some time since I've actually sent a "real"
e-mail.

Things are pretty good. I just started another new job today. I'm going
to be working at 3 different places. How's that for keeping the old brain
cells working? I'll be at St. Lukes 2 days a week, and then at Manor
Care and Willow Gardens split the other 2 days of the week. I'm still
keeping my Fridays "off", so I'm hopeful it will all work out great.

We've also been keeping busy around the house, cutting, hauling,
splitting and stacking wood for burning next winter and some for
campfires this summer. I'm looking forward to when the weather is nice
enough for those outside campfires!!!! Mushroom season is just around
the corner also, so I'm psyched that it's SPRING!!!!!

It's kind of funny, our plans for the night Scott was going to have his
party got cancelled so we were actually going to go. Good thing I called
him on that day; because I hadn't been on the site to get the message
that it was cancelled. So we went from having 2 possible things to do,
to none.... go figure.

Well, that's it from Waubeek.

Stay cool and thanks for keeping the blog going!

Hi Carron:

So nice of you to think of me!

The holidays were good, although I never got into the Christmas spirit. I think it had to do with no snow, and some undue stress at work. But I got to see all my family members, so Christmas was really special. I have a nephew in Iraq and he even got to come home for a visit.

Glad you also had a nice Holiday season. I read about you and Tony on the blog site. Congratulations on that relationship. Tony seems like a very nice guy to "hook up with".

So far, I love my new job. It's been a little slow, so I haven't gotten all the hours I wanted, but I'm not complaining too much on that front yet. I'll have to see where it goes. As long as it doesn't cut into the wallet too much, I can deal with some home time. St. Luke's is always busy, so if I get desperate, I can always pick up hours there. Unfortunately, they pay way less than my new job; so I'd rather be there. I might also have an opportunity to pick up another job, if this one continues to be slow. We'll see about that, I'd rather not go that route; but the money there would also be good. Not that it's all about money, but with more money; I've been able to have Friday's off, and that's what I'm really striving for.

We'll have to work on that as our New Years Resolution. I'm trying to get together with Carla "Etten" and she mentioned trying to get Beth "Henderson" to go out with us too, and maybe Brenda "Hanken"; some of the old group I used to hang with. Just seems like everyone is always so busy. I'm hoping that with my new job, I have a bit more freedom besides just the weekends. The husband likes to have my time then, and vice versa.

I hope things work out well with you and Tony! And thanks again for the note. It's always nice to get a 'real' e-mail.

Carron:

So nice of you to send me a special note. I've just been real busy, so I
haven't been keeping up with the e-mails.

Big change in my life. After working for St. Luke's full time for 15
years, I'm going to part time. Big decision, but one I hope I won't
regret. Unfortunately, I'm not wealthy enough to just get to go part
time, I'm actually going to work more at a Nursing home in Marion. I've
been doing that on a "as needed" basis for the last 6 months, to see if
I like it. Well, it all just kind of happened, and I hope that it will
allow me more flexibility in my schedule and hopefully even Friday's
off!!!! yippee!!!!!

I was going to comment on Tom's little video..... something like.....
"Didn't your Mama ever teach you not to flirt if you aren't going to
put out the goods?". I think we should all plan a winter Florida vacation
and go see Tom. That should teach him to taunt us. Flights to Florida
are cheap!!!!

I'm glad your Dad is doing much better. I was lame about responding to
all that, but again; time just wasn't on my side. I was sick all weekend, and am not quite over it yet. But I do want you to know, I added
all of you to my prayers. I really believe in that!

Unfortunately, I don't think I will see you guys on the weekend. The
smoke at the bar has a terrible effect on me, and I get bad headaches, as
if I've drank a ton. Last time; I had a rough day of it at work and my
throat hurt for about 4 days. I just can't do that scene very well;
although I had a blast seeing everyone. I'll just check out the blog
site, cuz I know you will have pictures.

Take care and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Hey Carron.

I would have called you back that night, but we were out for pizza. The next day I
had a conference, so now it's Sunday; I'm on the computer and it's just
as easy to jot you a line.

Thanks for all you do! It's been great seeing what everyone's been
doing, where they are, and it was especially fun to see people face to
face.

(That's Karla in the middle in the white shirt! Doesn't she look fabulous? Also pictured: Kathy, Tom, Tony, and Scott.)

Carron,

Thanks for all you do.

It's amazing how many people are enjoying the site, and they weren't even in our class. Like Doug Wortman. I grew up near him and haven't heard anything about him or his family for a long time.

Thanks, Thanks, Thanks,

Hey Carron:
Thanks for the information on the Blog Site, Now one more question?
How do you write a comment? I read your directions, to "click" on the
comment button; however it requests a "user name and password".
Since you set us up for this site, I didn't know what to put in those boxes.
I'm a "D" student when it comes to all this computer stuff; so if you
could explain it in "dummy" terms I'd be forever grateful. It would be
nice for you not to have to post every ones comments that come your way.
Thanks a ton, and thanks for all you do to keep us all updated!!!
Karla (B) Simmen
Karla,
You shouldn't need a user name and password. If you want to register, you can. If you do, your name will show up. But, you can leave a comment as "anonymous" and then just sign your name, so we all know who it's from (like "bz" does.) If you click on the word "comments", a little pop-up box will appear. You can also click on the date and time I posted the message/picture. If you do that, the whole posting will appear on the screen. You can leave a comment that way, too. When you have posted your comment, click "home" and it will take you back to the first page of the blog. Sometimes I find I have to "refresh" the page in order for the comment to appear. You can do this by clicking on the "refresh" button on your toolbar or you can hit "F5" on your keyboard.
Hope this helps and it was sooooooooooooooo good to see you Friday night.
Thanks for your kind words!!
Carron
