SHE DIDN'T, BUT SHE SHOULD HAVE

Well, Linda didn't win, but we had a great time anyway. Quite the honor to get into the pool of top 10 finalists. The ceremony was great, the dinner was delicious, and seeing Linda was the best part of all.

Do you recognize the Albertson kids in the bottom picture? The boys are Ross and Nick (Linda's son) and the girls are Kristin, Sonja, and Becky.

MINNESOTA TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARDS
Linda's awards ceremony is this Sunday, May 6th. Tony and I are going up on Saturday to sightsee and visit some of my relatives. On Sunday, at 12:30, we will be heading to the convention center to, hopefully, see Linda win Minnesota Teacher of the Year, 2007.

DOWN TO THE FINAL TEN...

I got a call from Linda tonight while at the bar playing pool. She made it to the final TEN!! So, now I get to go to the awards banquet on Sunday, May 6, when they announce the winner.

I was so certain she would make it, that I already put in for a day of vacation on Monday, May 7th!!!

I believe that they are picking the final ten finalists this weekend for Minnesota Teacher of the Year. So I hope to know on Monday or Tuesday. I leave for France on Thursday so I hope to know before that.

If you scroll a little over half-way down the second column of nominees, you will see a woman named Michele Bungum. I just about died when I saw the name. She is apparently my third cousin. Her brother, Galen, is in the book and the movie "We Are Soldiers" starring Mel Gibson. He was one of the very few who survived that massacre in Viet Nam. He is my dad's second cousin.

Wish Linda luck as she makes her way through the semi-finalist and finalist round. Hopefully, I will be in attendance on May 6th when they announce her name as the winner!

Just wanted you all to know that Linda Kerton (Albertson) has been nominated for "Minnesota Teacher of the Year." (She received "Minnesota FRENCH Teacher of the Year" a few years back, but this is the biggie.) Anyway, she asked me write a letter of recommendation for her, and, of course, I was extremely honored to do so. She will find out soon if she wins. Let's all send good thoughts her way. I received an e-mail from her today saying she received my letter and forwarded it on to the committee. I told her that WHEN she wins, I am going to stand with pride at the awards ceremony and scream, "Hatcher hasn't been on a hotel balcony in damn year 27 years and it's all your fault."

Never would I admit my part in that debacle.

Personal note for you: Wish I had more time to visit with you..... so many people to catch up with and talk to. Not enough time for lengthy conversation.
Also, thanks for the nice e-mail about Tina, she had a pretty good time last Friday too.

After getting up at 6:30 Saturday morning to work, then the party Saturday night.....I died! But, I survived. Thanks for asking!!! It was so wonderful to see you both!! What are the odds you will be back for Thanksgiving? There are just certain people a person always wants to see and you are one of them for me..... don't let 25 years go by again. Although we did have lunch (with my neighbor) a few years back. Ha.
