I have a personal favor to ask of all my friends and classmates. My dad went to the doctor today for a chest x-ray. The doctors did not like what they saw. He is having a biopsy on Friday, but the doctors are thinking lung cancer. If this turns out to be true, he is already scheduled for surgery on November 16th. I make no assumptions on anyone's faith, but I would appreciate prayers to whatever power you believe in and good thoughts directed my dad's way.
I will let you know the results of his biopsy on Friday.
Thank you so much.

  2. Carron,
I know how hard this is when you are uncertain about the health of a parent. I will be praying for Pete and your family. May your faith give you peace during the waiting.

  3. Carron,
I also just wanted to add that you have done such a great job with this site. I appreciate how you always have something good and kind to say to everyone. I would love to see the class of 82 accomplish something like this!

  5. Thanks, everyone! You have no idea what your thoughts and prayers mean to me and my family.

Brad is flying home from Denmark tomorrow afternoon and staying through the surgery next week, so we can all rally around as a family.

So, between the good thoughts, prayers, and wishes and having his family there (and the fact that he is one stubborn Norwegian), it can only be good news on Friday. :-)

I love you all. Thank you again so much. Your calls, e-mails, comments and kindness are overwhelming.

  6. Carron,
I will be thinking of you and your family at this time and hoping for the best. I appreciated all the concerns for my dad after his fall and even to this day, I get lots of people asking about how he is doing. It is nice to know that there are kind people in this world.

  8. Hi, again, everyone.

I talked to Mom today. Physically, Dad is doing okay. Mentally, he is having some natural worries. Mom seems to be holding up, too.

You know, Kris, it is very easy to say good and nice things and I'll tell you why. The outpouring of support, like I said, has been overwhelming, but not a bit surprising given the nature of all you people. It's just who you are. That's why I felt comfortable enough to ask you all for your help. And, when a person receives so much goodness and kindness, it is quite easy to give it back. Great and miraculous things happen when people come together for whatever reason.

Kelly, there is also a reason why people still ask about your dad. It's because he is a remarkable man. Just like his daughter.

I thank you all, once again.
    Much love ~

  10. Well, Brad arrived safely tonight. He, Mom, and Dad all stopped off at my place after the airport since I am only five miles away. We all went out for some beer and beef, as Brett would say. :-)

Dad was in wonderfully good spirits. His biopsy is at 9:00 Friday morning and he admitted he is rather nervous. Perhaps pissed at having to miss the IA/WI game on Saturday would more accurately describe it.

So, for now, the moods are good and positive. We'll go with that until and if we find out differently.

Dad read the blog and all your comments and wants me to pass on his gratitude and amazement at your kindness to all of you. He wholeheartedly feels your love.

    I'll keep you posted.
Much love and thanks from my whole family ~
